On March 18th 2020, Israel closed its borders to international tourism and brought Palestinian tourism to a complete standstill from one day to another. Two years into the pandemic, the fate of the Palestinian tourism industry is still entirely ambiguous: Will “living with the virus”, as promoted by several countries now, also result in “travelling with the virus”? This special edition of the JTT looks back on Palestine’s tourism sector during the pandemic and discusses different scenarios for the sector’s short-, medium- and long-term development.

As with all tourism talk sessions, this episode is open to all tourism practitioners from the public and private side as well as anyone with an interest in Palestinian tourism.

The “Jerusalem Tourism Talks” (JTT) are open forums to address current topics and challenges for the Palestinian tourism sector. The Talks are open to the whole sector and anyone with an interest in Palestinian tourism. Hosted by EJTDP, the Talks provide a space to bring together voices and opinions from across the sector and foster exchange in an open, forward-thinking and cooperative ambience. The selection of topics is done in cooperation with the local sector based on current demands and interests.

New topics can always be suggested to EJTDP directly. Please send your suggestion, ideally including draft agenda and list of speakers or requested experts, to talks[at]ejtdp.info or use our online form!

EJTDP’s Tourism Talks are hybrid events: Join us in person at: EJTDP’s Tourism Development Hub (Al-Yacoubi Street #6, Jerusalem) or online. A unique link for each JTT will be provided after registration.
Please note that in-person meetings might be cancelled at short notice due to the COVID-19 situation and the Talk will be virtual, only.
